After a thirty-minute rain delay in Pittsburgh, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Pirates 5-to-3.
After missing two games with ankle pain, Max Muncy returned to the lineup and had two hits. While the Dodgers do not have a timetable for Corey Seager’s return, Seager is healing quicker than the Dodgers thought. Garrett Cleavinger has completed his first scoreless inning in Triple-A Oklahoma City as a rehab assignment.
The Dodgers waited until the fifth inning to strike. AJ Pollock doubled in Gavin Lux and then scored on Mookie Betts’ triple. Betts scored on Muncy’s single. In the sixth, Chris Taylor, arguably the most consistent Dodger, blasted a two-run homer.
While Walker Buehler had only two strikeouts, he pitched a gem for seven innings. In the eighth inning, Joe Kelly pitched well, but to start the ninth, Nate Jones got two out while allowing two solo home runs. This forced Dave Roberts to bring in Kenley Jansen struck out to secure the victory.
