At Talking Stick, the Los Angeles Dodgers and the Colorado Rockies finished the game knotted at 6.

Thursday, manager Dave Roberts named Walker Buehler as the Dodger Opening Day starter on April 8th against the Rockies. Coming off a marvelous 2021 season but faded in September, Buehler deserves the honor. In spring training, after being the Dodgers’ player representative, he pitched 4.2 scoreless innings.

Thursday, Tony Gonsolin pitched three perfect innings. Coming off a frustrating 2021 season when he had shoulder problems, Gonsolin trusted on his fantastic split-finger fastball and had great control to retire the Rockies. Now, he must be the front runner for the fifth spot in the Dodger starting rotation.

The newest Dodger pitcher Tyler Anderson performed well in his spring training debut. Left-handed Anderson, who was with both the Pittsburgh Pirates and the Seattle Mariners during the 2021 season, demonstrated good quality of pitches and good control.

Again, Trea Turner paired with Freddie Freeman to produce a run. Coming off shoulder surgery last May, Edwin Ríos hit a monstrous home run. AJ Pollock homered. The silver-medalist in the 2014 Winter Olympics as a speed skater, Eddy Alvarez, who has had a terrific spring training performance, homered.

Both Kevin Pillar and Hanser Alberto debuted for the Dodgers.
