The Los Angeles Dodgers traded Ross Stripling to the Toronto Blue Jays for two players to be named later.

Since 2016, Stripling has been an inconsistent pitcher. At times, he has looks like the next Cy Young award winner, and then he looks like he belongs in the Minor Leagues. Stripling has a slight build, so he has shown an inability to have the endurance to last the season.

Although Stripling created a new changeup, his new pitch did not help his effectiveness. At first, he pitched with excellence, but the last five starts he has been bad. He has a 5.61 ERA.

Stripling was blocking Tony Gonsolin from joining to the Dodger starting rotation. Although Gonsolin had a poor start Sunday, he has proved he should be a Major-League starter. With the emergence of Dustin May, the Dodgers did not have any spot for the struggling Stripling in their starting rotation.
