The Los Angeles Dodgers returned home after a successful road trip to start a seven-game homestand against the San Francisco Giants and the Saint Louis Cardinals. To begin the homestand on a beautiful Thursday night at Dodger Stadium, the Dodgers inched out the Giants 4-to-3.

Out of necessity, the Dodgers had a bullpen game despite having an off day on Monday. At no time during the 2021 season, Walker Buehler has performed on the normal four days’ rest. Buehler has a history of blisters and had Tommy John surgery in 2015.

Every time the Dodgers have a bullpen game, the organization and their fans become nervous, but this nervousness was unfounded Thursday. Everything went according to plan. David Price pitched magnificently for 2.2 innings. Joe Kelly allowed a solo home run, and for the first time during his Major-League career, Victor GonzĂ lez allowed any kind of home run. He allowed a two-run blast to Donovan Solano. Nate Jones, Blake Treinen, and Kenley Jansen were perfect in relief.

For the second day in a row, Justin Turner hit a two-run homer, and DJ Peters blasted his first Major-League home run. Dodger fans have begun talking about Max Muncy being the National League MVP, and Thursday Muncy hit the game-winning home run.
