In the first game of the doubleheader, the first one at Dodger Stadium since July 1999, the Los Angeles Dodgers inched the Arizona Diamondbacks 7-to-6.

To prepare for the doubleheader, the Dodgers made several roster moves. However, putting Tommy Kahnle with forearm tightness is alarming. After the abbreviated 2020 season, the Dodgers signed Kahnle who just had Tommy John surgery in August. Kahnle began the 2022 season slowly. When he pitched, he had performed well. Any time a pitcher has forearm tightness, it can be disastrous for his season. The Dodgers are already dealing with the losses of Blake Treinen and Victor González. For the first month of the regular season, the Dodger bullpen was a strength, but the bullpen has been a liability over the last week.

While Ryan Pepoit allowed three runs in four innings, he had a better performance than in his Major-League debut. He used a better repertoire to baffle the weak-hitting Diamondbacks. He retired the Diamondbacks in order in the second for the first time in the Major Leagues.

The Dodgers showcased their power when Will Smith, Mookie Betts, Trea Turner, and Justin Turner homered.

Justin Bruihl, Evan Phillips, and Alex Vesia performed well, but Mitch White and Craig Kimbrel struggled.
