On a beautiful Monday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers got within 1½ games to the first-place San Francisco Giants with their 5-to-3 victory over the Atlanta Braves.
Before the game, both Clayton Kershaw and Tony Gonsolin pitched in a simulated game. Both pitched well, but Gonsolin was the most impressive. The Dodgers want to see how these pitchers respond to today’s exercise. If Gonsolin comes out well, he will go to a Minor-League club for a three-inning stint. Kershaw will have a bullpen session if he does not have any pain Tuesday.
The Dodgers used four home runs by Max Muncy, Will Smith, Mookie Betts, and Corey Seager to score their five runs. Julio Urìas pitched marvelous for six innings, and Phil Bickford, Corey Knebel, and Blake Treinen preserved the important victory, making Urìas the winningest pitcher in the National League.
