On an overcast Friday evening at Citizens Bank Park in Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Dodgers lengthened their winning streak to six games as they defeated the Phillies 4-to-1.

The early spring training signing of Freddie Freeman was the greatest free-agent acquisition Dodger President Andrew Friedman has made since he has been a member of the Dodger franchise. Freeman’s approach at the plate has set an excellent example for the rest of the team. While he can be a great power hitter, he does not hesitate about going to the opposite field, even though it might diminish his power. He has the highest batting average on the team. Friday Freeman had three hits and drove in two runs. In the ninth, Freeman’s supreme base running skills created an important run.

When Corey Seager chose to sign a mega-deal with the Texas Rangers, the Dodgers needed to replace Seager’s left-handed offensive production. Trea Turner plays his natural position shortstop. The acquisition of Freeman gave the Dodgers an offensive production upgrade. Freeman has been the Dodger MVP so far this season and enabled the Dodgers to build up a two-game lead over the San Diego Padres.

Coming off the worst start in his Major-League career, Julio Urías used all his repertoire to baffle the Phillies. Using eighty pitches, Urías silenced the Phillies over five innings. For the most part, the Dodger bullpen of Yency Almonte, Alex Vesia, Evan Phillips, and Craig Kimbrel pitched well, but Phil Bickford allowed a run in the ninth inning.
