On a picturesque Thursday afternoon on southside Chicago, the baseball game was ugly. Neither the Los Angeles Dodgers nor the Chicago White Sox received good pitching, but the Dodgers prevailed over the slumping White Sox 11-to-9.

Thursday marked the return of Max Muncy from the IL, and he made an instant impact on the struggling Dodger offense. Before he went on the IL because he had elbow inflammation, he had no power and had the lowest batting average in the Major Leagues. He had no confidence in his ability to hit. Thursday, he had a two-run double and a three-run homer. The Dodgers need Muncy in the middle of their lineup to make it more productive.

In the fifth inning, the Dodgers used six unearned runs to take the lead. Except for both Brusdar Graterol and Caleb Ferguson, none of the Dodger hurlers performed well. Usually, Tyler Anderson has been effective, but on Thursday, he could not command his changeup. He could not get out of the fourth inning. If the Dodger offense did not explode, they would have lost the game and the series. In the first two games of the Chicagoan series, Freddie Freeman had no hits, and on Thursday, Freeman had three hits, scored two runs, and drove in three runs.
