After the 2019 season, every Dodger fan expected Gavin Lux would be a superstar for many years to come, but he has struggled until this September.
Lux has all the skills to be a successful Major Leaguer, but not much has come together until this September. The Dodgers must find a regular position for the 23-year-old infielder/outfielder. While Lux has all the tools to be a Gold Glove fielder, he has not demonstrated superior abilities, not even at his natural position of shortstop. In 59 games at shortstop, Lux committed seven errors. He did not fare much better at second base. The experiment of playing Lux in the outfield was a disaster.
Offensively, Lux was an average hitter with a .242 batting average with seven home runs and a .692 OPS. If the National League adopts the DH, Lux gives the Dodgers a good left-hitting option. If not, the Dodgers should trade Lux to an American League team.
