Gonsolinn was was Almost Perfect

On a hot Friday evening at Kaufman Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers won their eleventh consecutive game when they defeated the Kansas City Royals 8-to-3.

En route to his fourteenth victory of the 2022 season, Tony Gonsolin was perfect into the sixth inning and did not allow a hit in the seventh. He could not finish the seventh, but he sat for twenty-five minutes while the top of the seventh when the Dodgers scored five runs. For the first five innings, Gonsolin just dominated the Royals.

David Price continued his dominance as he finished the seventh. Although Reyes Moronta allowed a two-run homer, he finished the eighth. Phil Bickford performed well in the ninth.

Before the seventh, the Dodgers could not capitalize on their scoring opportunities. Trea Turner’s single scored Gavin Lux and Trayce Thompson. Freddie Freeman doubled in Mookie Betts, and Turner scored on a wild pitch. In the eighth, Thompson blasted a three-run homer.

Friday was a sad day for baseball when Major League Baseball was forced to suspend Fernando Tatis, Jr., for eighty games for performance-enhancing drugs. He claimed he got the PED from a ringworm treatment. Tatis will not play during the 2022 season. This past offseason, Tatis had a motorcycle accident in his native Dominican Republic where he broke his wrist. He was on a rehabilitation assignment when the news of his PED use. In the past, Tatis, who plays shortstop with an enthusiastic flare, was the face of Major League Baseball, but his promising career will be always tarnished.
