On a cloudless Sunday afternoon at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Saint Louis Cardinals 4-to-1.

Since the Dodgers wanted to give their starters an extra day, they started Michael Groove. In his previous Major League starts, Groove struggled with his control, but on Sunday, he pitched well for five innings against a playoff-bound team. Groove allowed one run, struck out three, and walked one.

Although Brusdar Graterol allowed two hits during the sixth inning, he hurled a scoreless inning to prove he belongs on the playoff roster.

Andre Jackson pitched three scoreless innings to earn his second Major League save.

Freddie Freeman, returning from a day off because he was under the weather, drove in the first run in the first. Adam Wainwright walked Joey Gallo to drive in another run. In the second inning, Will Smith singled in Trea Turner, and in the third, Cody Bellinger doubled in Gallo.
