While Walker Buehler was the Opening Day starter in the 2022 regular season, Julio Urías was the Los Angeles Dodger ace during the season. The Dodger brass will build the rest of the starting rotation around Urías. However, Urías had a major shoulder injury in 2017, and since 2020, he has pitched many innings; therefore, Urías might suffer another arm injury during the upcoming season, causing him to miss significant time in the 2023 season.

Urías, 26, uses a fastball, a slurve, and a changeup to baffle the opposition. Because Urías did not have adequate run support, he lost 7 games. He won 17 games with a 2.16 ERA. No matter if the Dodgers had a losing streak, Urías stopped the losing streak. After the All-Star break, he typically allowed a solo home run in six innings. Against the San Diego Padres during the NLDS, Urías allowed three runs in five innings.

Since Urías pitched 180 innings, including the NLDS, he is likely to have an injury. He was third in the National League Cy Young Award. The Dodgers need to sign another experienced starter other than Clayton Kershaw to help Urías.
