Behind a dominant start by Clayton Kershaw, the Los Angeles Dodgers had a comeback 4-to-2.

Pitching to be named to the National League All-Star team, Kershaw looked like he was 25. He used all his pitches to make the young Cubs silly for 7.2 innings. While he was charged with two runs, he was unlucky and should not have been charged with any runs. He struck out 10 and walked none. Many people, including myself, want Kershaw to start the first All-Star Game at Dodger Stadium since 1980. Coming off his first forearm injury during the 2021 season, he has been great, proving he is a future Hall of Famer.

For the first five innings, the Dodger offense did nothing. In the sixth, after Trea Turner doubled, Will Smith singled in Turner. The Dodgers had a three-run seventh highlighted by Jake Lamb, his second in as many nights.

Both Evan Phillips and Craig Kimbrel were brilliant in relief.
