As he has done throughout his Hall-of-Fame career, Clayton Kershaw helped the Los Angeles Dodgers halt their three-game losing streak. The Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 8-to-0.
During the Dodger funk, their starting rotation has performed outstandingly. Kershaw pitched seven scoreless innings. Kershaw’s breaking pitches simply baffled the Reds resulting in twenty-two swings and misses, matching a career high. His control was amazing.
Before the eighth-inning explosion, the Dodgers toiled to score. Justin Turner, who arguably is the most consistent Dodger this season, homered, and Luke Raley’s grounder scored Chris Taylor.
Blake Treinen, Garrett Cleavinger, and Dennis Santana pitched well in relief.
Ever since Taylor returned to the lineup from missing a few games with a stiff back, he has been on fire. He hits everything while playing good defense. After a slow start to the 2021 season, the Dodgers sent down Matt Beaty, but injuries forced the Dodgers to promote him. Since returning to Los Angeles, Beaty has given the Dodgers exactly what they needed. Both Taylor and Beaty played a significant role in the eighth-inning explosion.
