Kershaw’s Gem

On a beautiful night in Oakland, the Los Angeles Dodgers walloped the Athletics 5-to-1.

Neither Chris Taylor nor Cody Bellinger played in Tuesday’s game. Taylor was available to pinch-run and play defense, a night after a pitch hit Taylor’s elbow. He should be able to play either tomorrow or Friday.

After getting spiked during the ninth inning, Bellinger could not play in the Tuesday game. He underwent testing on Tuesday night. At this time, no one knows how Bellinger is.

The Dodger offense continued rolling on. Austin Barnes had a run-producing double. Both Edwin Rìos and Max Muncy hit two-run dingers. Mookie Betts hit his first home run of the 2021 season.

Clayton Kershaw performed like his old self after a rough Opening Day start in Colorado. While he allowed a run in the first inning, he dominated the Athletics the next six innings. He had more velocity on his fastball and both his rainbow curveball and slider had more depth than they did in Colorado. His control was almost pinpoint perfect.

Both Blake Treinen and Kenley Jansen pitched well in relief.
