With their 3-to-2 victory over the New York Mets, the Los Angeles Dodgers lengthened their winning streak to eight games and decreased the San Francisco Giants’ lead to 1½ games.
Before the game, manager Dave Roberts scratched AJ Pollock from the lineup because he had a stiff back. He has been one of the most consistent Dodger hitters. He is listed as day-to-day, and the Dodgers hope Pollock can return to the lineup soon.
Walker Buehler continued his campaign to be considered a serious candidate for the National League Cy Young Award. While Buehler faced the Mets last Saturday, he continued to dominate the light-hitting Mets. In 7.2 innings, he struck out eight while allowing two runs.
Alex Vesia and Kenley Jansen dominated the Mets.
For the second consecutive game, thanks to the speed of Trea Turner, the Dodgers manufactured their runs. A productive out by Justin Turner gave the Dodgers the lead in the first after Trea Turner’s double. Trea scored on Max Muncy’s double and then Muncy scored on Corey Seager’s single.
