On a hot Saturday night at Citizens Bank Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers lengthened their winning streak to seven games as they defeated the Philadelphia Phillies 7-to-4.

Although Bryce Harper, the 2021 National League MVP, returned to the Philly Lineup after a five-day absence, the Phillies did not have the offensive production as they showcased in Los Angeles. Saturday’s game was a bullpen game for the Dodgers started by Mitch White, who allowed three runs. After David Price allowed a run, the Dodger bullpen of Phil Bickford, Brusdar Graterol, Justin Bruihl, Daniel Hudson, Alex Vesia, and Craig Kimbrel performed great.

For the last three weeks, Mookie Betts has shown why the Dodgers gave him a humongous contract in July 2020. During this period, he has hit .333. Saturday, he blasted his team-leading ninth home run, and he had three hits. He also threw out the possible go-ahead run at the plate. If Betts was not a Dodger, the Dodgers probably would not have won Saturday’s game or led the National League Western Division by two games.

Justin Turner had three hits, and Cody Bellinger had two hits. In the eighth, Gavin Lux had a crucial two-run single. Both Will Smith and Austin Barnes blasted solo home runs.
