Mookie Betts Giveth And Takenth Away

Thanks to Mookie Betts’ 3-run homer and terrific defensive catch, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Francisco Giants 9-to-6 on a perfect Thursday evening at Dodger Stadium. The Dodgers blew a 5-run lead.

Mitch White was fabulous for 5 innings. He baffled the Giants and did not allow a hit until the beginning of the sixth inning. Bouncing back from a bad start against the Saint Louis Cardinals, White struck out one while walking two. Cody Bellinger And Trea Turner made great defensive plays.

Caleb Ferguson pitched well for 1.1 innings in relief.

In the first, Freddie Freeman continued his torrid hitting with his fourteenth home run, and in the second, Trayce Thompson doubled in Hanser Alberto. In the third, Alberto doubled in Justin Turner who later left the game with a tight abdominal muscle.

For the first time during the 2022 season, the Dodgers blew a 5-run lead. Phil Bickford, Alex Vesia, who allowed a grand slam by Darin Ruf, and Evan Phillips did not have good control.

In the eighth, the Dodgers exploded for four runs. After Gavin Lux doubled, Thompson tripled in Lux. Bellinger walked. Betts blasted a fastball to left field for the game-winning home run. Although Craig Kimbrel saved the victory, Betts’ diving catch sealed the win.
