At Case Field, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 4-to-2. Because the San Francisco Giants walloped the Colorado Rockies, the Dodgers remained one game behind.
Tony Gonsolin performed magnificently for five innings allowing two runs. If Will Smith used proper catching techniques, Gonsolin would be charged with only one runs.
Alex Vesia, Corey Knebel, Blake Treinen, and Kenley Jansen pitched well, and the defense in left field by AJ Pollock and Chris Taylor was fantastic, preventing many runs.
Pollock’s two-run homer was the crushing blow for the Diamondbacks. Although the Dodgers had many scoring opportunities, they could not capitalize upon them.
