While it is early for the June groom in Los Angeles, on a cool and overcast evening at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Arizona Diamondbacks 3-to-2.

The future Hall of Framer Albert Pujols is officially a Dodger. The Dodgers made several roster moves before the game. To make room for Pujols on the forty-man roster, the Dodgers transferred Tony Gonsolin to the sixty-day IL. The Dodgers demoted Alex Vesia, Keibert Ruiz, and Mitch White so that they could activate David Price, Yoshi Tsutsugo, and Pujols.

Walker Buehler pitched a one-hit ball over seven innings that he struck out seven. While he sometimes struggled with his control causing him four walks, but after a visit from pitching coach Mark Prior during the fourth inning and a dugout talk from Pujols, Buehler did not walk anyone else.

In the second inning, Will Smith hit his first home run of May. During the third inning, after Madson Bumgarner walked both Mookie Betts and Max Muncy, Pujols singled scoring Betts. In the eighth, Smith, who doubled, scored on Gavin Lux’s single.
While Victor Gonzàlez struggled in the eighth and allowed the only Diamondbacks’ run of the night, Kenley Jansen had a four-out save.
