On a more beautiful Friday evening at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Chicago Cubs 4-to-3 in ten innings.

Before the game, both Mookie Betts and Trea Turner were named starters for the National League All-Star team. Both are having wonderful offensive seasons helping the Dodgers to be the best team in the National League.

Tyler Anderson had another great start. Early in the game, he had a fabulous feel for his changeup but lost it. He battled to preserve the Dodger bullpen even though he allowed three runs.

With Brusdar Graterol unavailable because of soreness in his right side, Yency Almonte, Caleb Ferguson, and Evan Phillips pitched magnificently in relief.

For 5.2 innings, Keegan Thompson silenced the potent Dodger offense. An error in right field allowed the Dodgers a run. Jake Lamb blasted his first home run as a Dodger. In the ninth, Betts had a sacrifice fly to drive in the tying run, and in the tenth inning, Will Smith singled in the winning run in Trea Turner.
