On a pleasant Tuesday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers clinched their ninth consecutive playoff berth. The Dodgers used all their offensive skills to beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 8-to-4. Of course, the San Diego Padres could not defeat the San Francisco Giants, so the Dodgers remain 2½ games behind the Giants.
Tony Gonsolin was magnificent through five innings. He has had a rough season with battling shoulder inflammation that affected the quality of his pitches, but his fastball, slider, and split finger looked excellent. He did not allow a run in his five innings while he struck out six.
Neither David Price nor Justin Bruihl performed well allowing four runs in their two innings. Both Blake Treinen and the new daddy Kenley Jansen were magnificent.
The Dodgers had three home runs by Max Muncy, Trea Turner, and Will Smith. They also manufactured runs.
