The Dodgers Broke Out of Their Slump

On a cool night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers snapped their two-game losing streak by beating the San Diego Padres 5-to-4.

Just before the game, the Dodgers added two more players to the IL. Friday night Corey Knebel injured his lat, a middle back muscle, and he thinks he will pitch again for the Dodgers this season. The Dodgers recalled Garrett Cleavinger.

Having bad side effects to a vaccine, Dennis Santana was put on the IL, and the Dodgers recalled Matt Beaty, who had an important pinch-hit single in Saturday’s victory.

Trevor Bauer pitched well for six innings even though he allowed three runs. He had good control and velocity. While Bauer could shut down his nemesis Manny Machado, he allowed two solo home runs by Fernando Tatis, Jr,

For the last six games, the Dodgers were mired in a tremendous offensive slump, Saturday night, the Dodgers broke out their collective slump. For this time in the 2021 season, the Dodgers had two pinch hits by Chris Taylor and Beaty. Justin Turner had an RBI single. A bases-loaded walk to Mookie Betts was important and set up Corey Seager’s two-run single.

While the Dodger bullpen did not allow more than a run, it looked shaky until manager Dave Roberts turned to Kenley Jansen who retired the last four outs.
