Under the lights at Camelback Ranch, the Los Angeles Dodgers tied the San Diego Padres at five.

Earlier in the day, the Dodgers extended manager Dave Roberts’ contract to 2025. Ever since 2016 when Roberts took over the Dodgers, he has piloted the team to five National League Western Division titles, three pennants, and a world championship in 2020. He managed two Rookies of the Year – Corey Seager and Cody Bellinger – and the 2019 National League MVP. In 2016, Roberts won the National League Manager of the Year. His gregarious personality has made him the perfect Dodger spokesman for the Dodgers, and this year Roberts almost guarantees the Dodgers will win the world championship.

Friday, both Julio Urías and Mookie Betts made their spring training debuts. In his three innings, Urías allowed two home runs since he could not locate his “slurve.” Freddie Freeman as a Dodger blasted his first home run. After Max Muncy had his first hit, a single, of spring training, Will Smith hit his second home run of the spring. Victor Gonzalez, coming off a disappointing 2021 season, pitched a perfect inning, and so far, he has performed as he belongs in the Dodger bullpen this upcoming campaign.
