The Los Angeles Dodgers, who won 111 games during the regular season, face elimination Saturday. While the San Diego Padres are playing the best baseball in 2022, the Dodgers have looked like a second-class Major-League team.

Going into the NLDS, most Dodger fans and many baseball-knowledgeable people thought the Dodgers would have pitching to win a world championship. So far, during the NLDS, the Dodgers, even though Clayton Kershaw did not pitch like his dominating self, the Dodger pitching has done its job. Since Tony Gonsolin went only 1.1, innings, the Dodger bullpen is worn out and needs Tyler Anderson to go at least five innings on Saturday.

The Dodger offense has been silent and incapable of launching a prolonged rally at any time during the series. Even in the first game when the Dodgers scored five runs, they did not have a rally. The Dodgers must link hits together. Hitting home runs are exciting but rare and impractical.

The Dodgers must forget the pressure of an elimination game and play their brand of baseball. If they do, they will advance to the NLCS. If they don’t, their fabulous regular season will view as a failure.
