Friday, the Los Angeles Dodgers made the 2020 National League Cy Young Award winner right-handed Trevor Bauer the highest player in Major League Baseball history. He will make $40 million in 2021. While Bauer has a three-year deal worth $102 million, he has options to leave the Dodgers after both the 2021 and 2022 seasons.

Before Bauer’s signing, many Dodger fans believe the Dodger starting rotation was weak even with Clayton Kershaw, Walker Buehler, Julio Urìas, and David Price. While Dustin May and Tony Gonsolin are young and inexperienced in the Major Leagues, they have the tremendous talent to succeed in the Major Leagues. With the addition of Bauer, according to the MLB Network, the Dodgers have the best starting rotation in baseball.

Bauer is not a big man. Most Major-League pitchers must be tall to create a downward plane to be elite pitchers. Bauer has used modern statistical analysis to make himself an elite Major-League starter, which impresses Dodger President Andrew Friedman. Bauer has been outspoken during his career, and I hope he doesn’t destroy the Dodger chemistry.
