On a hot Monday night at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers used their three hits wisely in their 3-to-1 victory over the Philadelphia Phillies.
Before the game, manager Dave Roberts said that the best-case scenario about Cody Bellinger returning to the lineup Wednesday. Friday, he left the game early with a hamstring problem. At first, Bellinger described his hamstring problem as a “cramp,” but the possibility of an IL stint increases daily.
Although Tony Gonsolin pitched better than his first outing against the Pittsburgh, he still struggled with his control. In his 3.2 innings, Gonsolin had five strikeouts and three walks. David Price, Joe Kelly, Victor González, Blake Treinen, Jimmy Nelson, and Kenley Jansen were almost flawless.
Will Smith had a two-run homer, and Chris Taylor hit his ninth home run of the season.
