For the second consecutive year, the Los Angeles Dodgers opened the regular season in Colorado, but Friday, under cloudless skies, the Dodgers beat the Rockies 5-to-3.

Unlike last season, the Dodgers did not have any unique plays where Justin Turner passed Cody Bellinger on a homer, which gave Bellinger a single. Friday, the Dodgers did everything right.

For the first time during his career, Walker Buehler started on Opening Day, and he performed well though he allowed two runs in the second inning. He could not strike out many during his five innings, but he walked only two. He will improve out of Coors Field.

The Dodgers exploded five runs in the fourth. Gavin Lux singled in Will Smith and Chris Taylor, who had two hits. Mookie Betts doubled in Lux. After Freddie Freeman walked, Trea Turner singled in Betts and later scored on a wild pitch. The presence of Freeman in the lineup will make it stronger since his willingness to go the opposite way and patience is an upgrade over Corey Seager, who plays for the Texas Rangers now.

Brusdar Graterol with his new cutter, Blake Treinen, and Daniel Hudson, who performed for the Washington Nationals and the San Diego Padres, stifled the Rockies. Although Craig Kimbrel allowed two doubles good for a run, he registered his first save as a Dodger.
