On a picturesque Tuesday evening at Petco Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 5-to-2. Since the San Francisco Giants shut out the New York Mets, the Dodgers remain 2½ games out of first place.
Before the game, the Dodgers activated Julio Urìas from the ten-day IL. He had a bruised calf. He performed magnificently for five innings, allowing only one hit. His slurve was fantastic.
Although Will Smith homered, the game belonged to AJ Pollock. Playing left field, Pollock robbed Manny Machado from having a two-run homer. Later in the game, Pollock had an important two-run single. Thanks to Trea Turner’s speed, the Dodgers scored two more runs.
Other than Corey Knebel who allowed a two-run homer by Jurickson Profar, the Dodger bullpen of Alex Vesia, Phil Bickford, and Kenley Jansen pitched well against a good Padre offense.
