On a beautiful Wednesday evening after a rainstorm at Great American Ball Park, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the Cincinnati Reds 8-to-4.

After his near-no-hit bid, Tyler Anderson was not as sharp as in his last outing against the Los Angeles Angels but lasted five innings and received a no-decision. His pitches did not have much movement, and he toiled with his ordinary control. He allowed four runs.

The Dodger bullpen of Alex Vesia, Yency Almonte, Daniel Hudson, and Craig Kimbrel was magnificent.

Since manager Dave Roberts moved Will Smith to the third spot in the lineup, he has been on fire. Wednesday, Smith drove in two runs. Since a Red pitcher hit Chris Taylor, Taylor drove in a run. Freddie Freeman socked his seventh home run of the season. Newcomer Trayce Thompson doubled in two runs.

This win enabled the Dodgers to maintain their half-game lead over the San Diego Padres.
