On a steamy evening at Dodger Stadium, the Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the San Diego Padres 9-to-4.

In a rare unusual pitching arrangement for the Dodgers during the 2022 season, Caleb Ferguson opened the game by striking out the side. Ryan Pepoit still struggled with his control and allowed one run with four walks in two innings. Alex Vesia earned the victory. Both Heath Hembree and Evan Phillips struggled. After Phil Bickford pitched well in the eighth, Craig Kimbrel Let It Go as he had a clean ninth.

The Dodgers scored five runs in the fourth inning highlighted by Will Smith’s 21st home run and a two-run double by Trea Turner. In the seventh inning, Trayce Thompson blasted a three-run homer.

Before the game, the Dodgers placed David Price with a wrist injury on the IL. The troublesome wrist has been bothering Price for two weeks, and the Dodgers hope it will improve in 10 days. Gavin Lux is still out with a neck issue.a
